COVID-19 Community Update

Council would like to assure you that Council and Staff have taken the necessary steps to ensure that the safe provision of primary municipal services will continue during the COVID-19 pandemic. Below you will find some of the steps we have taken to mitigate the risk of virus transmission while maintaining essential operations.

The Village is in contact with senior government and health officials to ensure that the information we have is the most current. We encourage you to use the website links we have posted on our website when you are looking for information regarding COVID-19 and for updates on our services. It is extremely important that we all follow Yukon Government medical advice.

Remote Access to Council Meetings

In order to comply with territorial regulations to reduce the risk of virus transmission, the public is invited to attend Council Meetings remotely through Zoom. Access is available either via internet or via phone. Instructions will be posted online before each meeting (click here) or you can call the Village Office for details.

Please note that participants will be automatically muted and the video function will not be enabled. The Village is still investigating options to allow full public participation remotely and we thank you for your patience and understanding. Council Chambers will not be open to the public. If you are unable to access a phone or the internet, please contact the Village to discuss arranging remote access.

Landfill and Recycling Centre

The Village has received approval from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer to operate the Haines Junction Recycling Centre according pdf to the amended procedures outlined here (192 KB) .

We ask that all Recycling Centre users follow these procedures. Thank you for respecting our staff and keeping our community safe!

Facility Rentals

The Village is offering its facilities for rent according to the guidelines and regulations of the Yukon Government. For more information about making a facility reservation, click here.

Bill Brewster Arena

Office Hours

The Village of Haines Junction is continuing to maintain regular office hours:

Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

In order to ensure the health and safety of our staff and community, we are requesting that contact with the Village be made via phone or email. If you must come to the office, please ensure that you keep the recommended distance of 2 metres / 6 feet from staff and fellow citizens.

Facility Rental Update

The Village of Haines Junction is now accepting rental requests for use of the St. Elias Convention Centre Grand Hall and Atrium and the Bill Brewster Arena Mezzanine.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a revised rental agreement is in place that incorporates an estimated sanitization surcharge, a cancellation provision and additional COVID-19 regulation requirements.  pdf You can download a copy of the Facilities Rental Agreement here.
