On September 22, 2021, Village of Haines Junction Council approved the attached Community Group and Individuals Support Policy. The purpose of the Policy is two-fold:
- To maximize the user of our facilities by individuals and community groups by reducing the financial barriers to access the facilities;
- To provide 3rd party liability insurance to eligible groups and individuals holding events.
This policy allows for local community groups and individuals to continue to access Village facilities for public, non-profit events free-of-charge after the Council resolution allowing for free access in 2021 has expired.
The Village invites community groups and recreation providers to complete the free use application form to determine if they qualify for free access to Village facilities. Please note that, although there are numerous free-use conditions listed in the policy, the Chief Administrative Officer has the authority to waive any of these requirements should it be believed that the event would support recreational or cultural opportunities in the community. The Village strongly encourages all community groups and persons wishing to offer such opportunities to the community in municipal facilities to apply.
Free facility use also applies to locals accessing the Bill Brewster Arena for public skate, curling, etc.
