The Haines Junction Animal Control Bylaw clearly states that animals must be kept on their owner’s premises or under their immediate control at all times. This regulation applies to all animals, including cats. If your cat is picked up by a Village Animal Control Officer, it will be impounded and significant fines will apply.
Loose cats are a nuisance to your neighbours! Loose cats do not clean up after themselves. Loose cats dig up gardens. Loose cats can scratch. Loose cats chase away our wildlife. Loose cats can cause allergic reactions.
Be a good neighbour! Keep your cat on your property or under your direct control at all times.
