HEADING FROM HAINES JUNCTION

East to Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway

km 6.7 Pine Lake Campground, Government of Yukon This is an excellent camping and day use area, popular with locals and visitors. The site features a large sandy beach; good swimming, boating, fishing and picnicking; and a short interpretive trail.

km 31.2 Canyon Creek Bridge Originally built in 1920 as part of the Kluane Wagon Road between Whitehorse and Silver City, this log bridge was reinforced during the construction of the Alaska Highway and is the only bridge still standing from that time period.

km 33 Aishihik Lake and Area A gravel road leads into Otter Falls Recreation Area (30 km) and Aishihik Lake and Campground (42 km). It is a short walk to the base of the falls (water levels fluctuate) and the nearby recreation area on Canyon Lake has picnic sites, a shelter and boat launch. Those continuing on to Aishihik Lake may spot wood bison herds in the meadows along the road. These animals were re-introduced into the area in 1986. The campground has tenting and RV sites, and a shelter and boat launch. There is fishing in both lakes.
